Andrew Garfield to Star in ‘Under the Silver Lake’

Andrew Garfield is adding his name to yet another intriguing title as The Social Network breakout has attached himself to star in David Robert Mitchell’s upcoming crime noir Under the Silver Lake. Mitchell is coming off the well received horror entry It Follows; he made his directorial debut with the well-received 2010 film The Myth of the American Sleepover.

Plot specifics for Under the Silver Lake are being kept under lock and key for the time being but the film is being called a modern day noir set in Los Angeles. Production for the title is slated to begin sometime later this summer. No other casting announcements have arrived yet for the film, which Mitchell also scripted. Michael De Luca is producing the title.

With The Amazing Spider-Man behind him, Garfield has a handful of interesting titles in the pipeline. The actor last appeared on screen opposite Michael Shannon (Midnight Special) in the well received drama 99 Homes. He will next appear in Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge and Martin Scorsese’s eagerly anticipated Silence.
