Saturday Night Live alums Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell will be reuniting to co-star in Ferrell’s latest comedy The House for New Line. Poehler is in talks to portray Ferrell’s wife in the film about a married couple who start an illegal casino in their basement with the help of their neighbors after losing their daughter’s college fund.
The script was written by Neighbors scribes Andrew J.Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Cohen will also be directing and O’Brien will act as producer. Ferrell and partner Adam McKay are also producing under their Gary Sanchez banner. Production will soon begin this summer in Los Angeles.
Besides their brief overlap in residencies at SNL, Poehler and Ferrell have since appeared as ice skating rivals in Blades of Glory and Poehler also had a cameo alongside Ferrell in last year’s sequel Anchorman 2.
This casting comes at a perfect time for Poehler, who has just closed the lid on several projects. After finishing up a seven-season run on her show Parks and Recreation, Poehler has filmed Sisters with comedy buddy Tina Fey (Baby Mama), lent her voice to the new animated Pixar film, Inside Out, and has reprised her role from the cult film Wet Hot American Summer in a television series adaptation for Netflix.
