Amy Madigan Awarded Best Female Actor In A Supporting Role For ‘Weapons’

Amy Madigan in 'Weapons'

As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, Amy Madigan (Uncle Buck, Places in the Heart) won best female actor in a supporting role for the horror film Weapons as she played the role of Aunt Gladys. The award was given at the 2026 Actor Awards. She was up against Ariana Grande (Wicked, Victorious), Odessa A’zion (Grand Army, Until Dawn), Teyana Taylor (Straw, All’s Fair), and Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners, Loki).

Madigan accepted the award, stating,

It’s such an honor to be here. I’ve been doing this a long ass time, and I have never been nominated by the SAG committee and by the [Screen Actors] Guild. I’m a proud member, and I keep getting asked tonight, ‘What is it about this night?’ I said, ‘Because actors love other actors. They just love being with them. We want to be working with them.’

She further proceeded to say,

I’m a union person. I come from Chicago. Everybody in my family, all my friends, relatives, we’re all union people, and I don’t care what somebody says, they’re not going to bust us.

She joked about the final scene with the kids,

All of the little kids who ran around with us. I did terrorize them, but I let them rip me apart, so it was OK,

She concludes her speech,

Let’s see. What does he have here anyway? Sorry, I digress. It was like when you were little, and you had the Barbie and then you got Ken, and you whipped down his drawers and you went, ‘Ken has nothing!’ Anyway, I really am digressing. I apologize. As you can tell, I’m nervous and I’m just overwhelmed and so happy. Thank you, everybody.

Weapons stars Madigan as Gladys, Julia Gardener as Justine (Ozark, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Alden Ehrenreich (Oppenheimer, Cocaine Bear) as Paul, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War, Dune: Part One) as Archer, Austin Abrams (Dash & Lily, Euphoria) as James, Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, Deadly Class) as Marcus and Cary Christopher (It’s Not Like That, An Almost Christmas Story) as Alex. The horror film focuses on a group of missing third graders that sparks controversy across town as Justine and Archer discover the events of the incident and who did it.

Weapons is available to stream only on Max.
