Amy Adams, who played Daily Panet reporter and Superman’s love interest Lois Lane in the DCEU, recently showed her support for Rachel Brosnahan as the next casting of the iconic character. Adams portrayed the character in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and Zach Snyder’s Justice League. Rachel Brosnahan will be playing Lois in James Gunn’s Superman this year and presumably other projects in the emerging DCU.
On the red carpet for the 2025 Golden Globes, Adams was asked if she had seen the Superman trailer yet. She had not, but immediately responded saying she had talked to Rachel Brosnahan and expressed her excitement to see her pick up the role of Lois. She said, “she has such a great sensibility, a wonderful sense of humor, sense of depth, timing. She’s got so much. And she also just has that intelligence and sass. I just think she’s gonna be fantastic.”
Superman is the first feature film starring the iconic first superhero over a decade, with Man of Steel coming out in 2013. This also makes Rachel Brosnahan the first Lois Lane on the silver screen since then. However, there have been other adaptations on the small screen since then. Bitsie Tulloch played Lois Lane alongside Tyler Hoechlin as Superman in small appearances on the CW series Supergirl as well as in a leading role for Superman & Lois. Additionally, Alice Lee voiced Lois in the Adult Swim animated series My Adventures with Superman, with Jack Quaid voicing the titular hero.
Superman, led by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, will fully launch the DCU when it drops in theaters on July 11. The film lands in a busy July surrounded by other titans such as Jurassic World: Rebirth and Fantastic Four: First Steps. Superman aims to headline other films set to fill out the DCU including Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Clayface and The Brave and the Bold.
