Amblin Acquires ‘White Room’ Script, Rod Blackhurst to Helm

According to Deadline, Amblin Partners has acquired the script for The White Room, which made it to 2018’s BloodList, a tally of unproduced thriller and horror scripts voted on by industry professionals. Penned by Bryce McGuire (Night Swim), the female-driven thriller is described as a combination of Don’t Breathe and Hereditary.

When a young woman goes missing in the remote Adirondack Mountains, a local widow attempts to find out the truth behind the mystery, which may have been caused by something not quite human. The story takes place over the course of one night.

Amblin Partners is fast tracking The White Room. Rod Blackhurst (who helmed 2016’s Tribeca Film Festival grand prize winner Here Alone) is already attached to direct and will soon be casting the film. The project is being developed by The Picture Company and ACE Content; it will be a co-production between the two companies. Evan Hayes and Noah Lang will produce along with The Picture Co. partners Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona. ACE’s founding partner Justin Barocas will executive produce. Holly Bario and Andrew Calof will oversee the film for Amblin.

We will keep you updated on any new developments.
