Thursday morning, Amazon released the trailer for its espionage thriller, All the Old Knives, starring Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton, as former lovers-turned-enemies in a cat and mouse chase where no one can be trusted.
In the release statement, Amazon wrote, “A modern-day espionage thriller that follows Henry (Chris Pine) as he investigates Celia (Thandiwe Newton), a past flame from their days as CIA intelligence officers in Vienna, who is now under suspicion of having been a double agent. Using flashbacks to weave together multiple timelines, All the Old Knives peels back the layers of their past romance and exposes the truth behind a devastating terrorist attack they were unable to stop.”
All the Old Knives is directed by Janus Metz (True Detective) and written by Olen Steinhauer (Berlin Station), who wrote the film as a novel first. The film also stars Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Pryce, Corey Johnson, and David Bedella.
Thandiwe Newton is most known as the self-aware robot Maeve Millay in HBO’s Westworld, a sci-fi thriller set in a reality where artificial intelligence gains sentience and is set to take over the world.
Chris Pine will also star in The Contractor, another action-thriller, which premieres on April 1, 2022.
All the Old Knives will release in select theaters and Amazon Prime Video on April 8.
