Amazon is in the final process of finalizing the new Michael B. Jordan film Without Remorse. Amazon Studios is attempting to acquire the latest film from Paramount Studios.
Due to the coronavirus and social distancing, movie theatre across the country have had to be shut down for months. The shutdown has pushed back the release dates of many films. It has also forced studios to offload some of their films onto streaming services. Paramount is among many of the studios hit hard by the theatres shut down and has sold both The Lovebirds and The Trial of the Chicago 7 to other streaming platforms. Without Remorse would be the studio’s third film sold to a streaming platform.
The new film is based on the #1 New York Times bestseller written by Tom Clancy and follows John Clark, a former Navy SEAL, and counter-terrorism expert. The film follows as Clancy transitions into his new role in the CIA.
Paramount had initially planned for a September 18 release date back in February, but as the cases in America rise, the planned release date is looking more and more unlikely.
While the deal has not been finalized, if it does go through, the film will premier on Amazon’s streaming service rather than have a traditional theatrical release. Amazon has not confirmed an intended release date for the film.
