Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have their second installment of the cult hit Anchorman awaiting release, but have found a new producing project – a romantic comedy that now has Amanda Seyfried attached to star. She’ll play the lead in He’s F—ing Perfect, which was written by McKay’s former assistant Lauryn Kahn and will be directed by Jake Szymanski, a regular director of skits on the Funny or Die website.
The film concerns an online savvy woman (to be played by Seyfried) who researchers her friends suitors online, acting as an adviser of sorts on potential boyfriends. Matters become complicated when she engineers a friend’s break-up in order to steal the fellow for herself. No other casting decisions have been made at the time. Universal Pictures picked up the project last June in the hopes of fashioning it into a vehicle for actress Emma Stone.
Seyfried, last seen on screen as Linda Lovelace in the biopic Lovelace will next be seen on screen in Seth MacFarlane’s comedy western A Million Ways to Die in the West, his follow-up to his 2012 blockbuster Ted. Seyfried is also confirmed for director Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young, co-starring Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts, as well as Fathers & Daughters opposite her Les Misérables co-star Russell Crowe and Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul.
