CW Discussions of Kink Communities and Dynamics
Alexander Skarsgard and Harry Melling have been cast in short director Harry Lighton’s feature debut Pillion. Produced by Element Pictures, the film will follow two men’s raunchy, queer relationship and its ups and downs over time.
Melling plays Colin, a timid man who lets his life in the suburbs weigh him down until he meets queer biker Ray (Skarsgard), who takes Colin in as a submissive, and the latter’s gang. Ray introduces Colin to a whole new life of sex and kink, but Colin starts to have doubts regarding his and Ray’s relationship, especially since he starts to feel trapped in a submissive role.
Element Pictures producer Emma Norton praised this project and its eagerness to explore a queer relationship in a kink setting. “Harry is a filmmaker who is drawn to risk and fascinated by the potential to find surprising complexity in everyday life. We love this about him and believe that Pillion is the perfect expression of his talent, bravery, and ambition,” she explained.
Other producers like Alison Thompson and Henry Gooder have expressed their admiration for the screenplay and how it tackles these difficult topics. They called the casting “inspired” and explained, ”Harry’s script is equally compelling and shocking as it is funny and entertaining – and one of the best we’ve read in years.“
Pillion will be shot this summer in the UK and premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. There is currently no trailer or specific release for this movie’s radical portrayal of the queer kink community.
