Distribution company Alchemy has acquired the U.S. rights for Survivor, starring Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) and several other Hollywood stars well-versed in thrillers. Jovovich plays a Foreign Services officer who tries to prevent a terrorist attack in New York but then has to flee for her life after being accused of crimes she did not commit.
Jovovich is joined by Pierce Brosnan (Goldeneye), Dylan McDermott (Olympus Has Fallen), Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got to Do With It), Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee), James D’Arcy (Jupiter Ascending), and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown) in the movie. It’s directed by James McTeigue, known for V for Vendetta, from a script written by Phil Selby. This is not Alchemy’s only acquisition recently, having also picked up Rolling Papers, a marijuana documentary by Mitch Dickman and the action-comedy Moonwalkers with Ron Perlman, Rupert Grint, and Robert Sheehan.
Survivor does not have a set U.S. release date due to its recent acquisition, but it’s due for release in the UK on July 10. Jovovich, as Survivor has completed filming, is now moving on to work on the latest installment of the popular Resident Evil franchise, titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
