Ahead of his return as Nightcrawler in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Alan Cumming sat down with People Magazine to discuss a rather “traumatizing’ experience he had while filming X2, his first time playing the character.
He began by discussing his experience reuniting with his X2 co-stars 2 decades later during the filming of Avengers: Doomsday, and how he bonded with them over the “trauma’ they faced filming the 2000 film. “The ones that I did reunite with, I’ve seen them since I also didn’t reunite with that many because we did it all sort of separately,” Cumming said.
He continued, saying that “it was a bit of a modern way of doing things. I’m very chummy with Ian [McKellan], I’ve seen Rebecca [Romijn] over the years. Patrick [Stewart], I’ve seen quite a lot. Jimmy [Marsden], I’ve seen a lot of them actually. It’s one of those films where I think we all were so traumatized we were bonded in trauma, so we stayed in touch.”
Cumming, along with many of his fellow X-Men co-stars, are all set to return and make their MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday. The film is set to release in theaters on December 18th of this year. It will be released in standard and Premium Large Formats. In a recent announcement, many of these Premium Formats will be given the Infinity Vision branding, meant to notify theatergoers that they will be watching the film in the best possible format. This Infinity Vision branding was revealed to combat the reality that the film will not be released in IMAX, with Dune: Part Three securing those screens.
