Academy award winner Alan Arkin has passed away this past Thursday at his San Marcos, CA home according to Deadline. The actor was well-known for his role in Little Miss Sunshine, in which he had won an Oscar.
Deadline, in the same article, notes that Alan Arkin’s death was made public on Friday by his three sons: Adam, Matthew, and Anthony Arkin. They told People: “Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand, and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed.”
Arkin has been nominated for several Oscars throughout his career, including The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming; The Heart is a Lonely Hunter; and Argo. Along with these, he’s been nominated for six Emmy awards, with the most notable nomination being for his role in Netflix’s The Kominsky Method. Arkin has also won a Tony award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his part in Enter Laughing.
Deadline states that Arkin had “clocked more than 100 feature film credits across his decades-long career.” Arkin had lived through an immensely successful career throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his three sons and his wife, Suzanne Newlander Arkin.
