Horror remakes of classic Disney tales have become a common trend lately, with movies like Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey and The Mouse Trap getting plenty of attention. Now the story of Aladdin is receiving a similar treatment with the upcoming film Aladdin: The Monkey’s Paw. This reimagining reportedly has Terrifier 3 star Bradley Stryker attached to it as well.

Disney’s own Aladdin was adapted from the Arabic folklore tale One Thousand and One Nights, and now others are getting in on the action. Aladdin: The Monkey’s Paw is headed to production in the UK next month. In addition to Stryker, who also happens to be directing the film, the cast includes Nick Sagar, Ricky Norwood, and Montana Manning, although their roles are currently undisclosed.

A synopsis for the film reads:

A modern-day Londoner, Aladdin, inherits an ancient monkey’s paw believed to grant wishes, only to discover that every desire comes at a soul-crushing price. As those around him fall victim to its curse, he must confront a growing evil — and the demonic force that feeds on every wish made.

It will be exciting to see another unique spin on such a popular tale.
