

Following the Oscars on Sunday, the Academy Award winning picture Anora has brought home five awards, including best picture of the year. Anora currently has a set Blu-ray and 4k disc release date from the Criterion Collection on April 29th, 2025. Additionally, the comedy-drama picture also has a release date on the streaming app Hulu in two weeks on March 17th.
Mikey Madison has received acclaim for her portrayal of the title role in Anora as she was awarded the Oscar for best actress just two nights ago. The director, screenwriter, and editor of the film, Sean Baker also holds a record for the most Oscar wins in a single night, tied with the one and only Walt Disney.
Anora was distributed by NEON and grossed over $41 million worldwide, surpassing its low budget of $6 million. The movie also originally received its acclaim by winning the Palm d’Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 21st of 2024.
The plot of the movie involves a 23 year old sex worker named Anora, who is introduced to a 21 year old Russian oligarch and ends up marrying him. His wealthy family later pushes an annulment on the newlywed couple. Mikey Madison stars as Anora while her husband, the Russian oligarch named Ivan, is played by Mark Eydelshteyn.
