After The Whale allowed Brendan Fraser to take home an Oscar in 2023, director Darren Aronofsky claimed he did not know what to do next. With The Whale being a dark tear-jerker, Aronofsky wanted to work on a lighter film. Aronofsky told Variety,
“I was really upset that I couldn’t figure out what what was next. And I kind of had this urge to do something fun. I felt like there was just so much tension in our normal lives that I felt like the one thing that Hollywood has always done is entertain. I look at projects and I said, ‘You know what? The most fun I had is Charlie’s script.”
This eventually correlated to Aronofsky revisiting Charlie Huston’s script, Caught Stealing. Huston adapted the screenplay himself about a baseball player who gets entangled with the criminal underworld of New York City during the 1990s. Austin Butler will star in this upcoming picture.
There is even further rumors that Aronofsky might be directing another adaptation of Stephen King’s Cujo for Netflix. It is confirmed however that Aronofsky will be directing a biopic on Elon Musk to be distributed through A24. The Elon Musk film will be based on the book by Walter Isaacson, the same author of the basis for the film Jobs with Michael Fassenbender.
