Jason Lapeyre, director of I Declare War (2012) is set to helm a big-screen adaptation of sci-fi author Philip K. Dick’s (A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report) short story, The Crawlers. The story concerns a small town besieged by a race of hive-dwelling humanoid creatures. The oddest thing about the creatures is not their pale skin or deadly stingers; it’s the fact that the town’s residents gave birth to them. According to The Wrap, The Crawlers will be produced by Edward R. Pressman (The Crow, Bloodsport) and Dick’s daughter, Isa Dick Hackett. Last year it was announced that Hackett and her production company Electric Shepherd Productions would be handling another of the many film based on Dick’s work, Martian Time-Slip.
