Parks and Recreation and Severence star Adam Scott is set to join Dakota Johnson in Sony Pictures’ Madame Web. His highly acclaimed Apple TV+ series Severance has enjoyed great success ever since its premiere on February 18, 2022. The drama is nominated for 14 Emmy awards including best drama series and best actor for Scott.
The cast also features Euphoria‘s Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, and Tahar Rahim. S.J. Clarkson is directing while Kerem Sanga, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless are writing the screenplay. Sony has not revealed Scott’s role in the film yet.
In the Marvel comics, Madame Web is an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and is connected to a life-support system that resembles a spider web. As a result of her age and health condition, the character has never fought any villains. It is thus possible that the film might deviate from the original storyline. Insiders speculate that her psychic powers will make her Sony’s answer to Doctor Strange.
Madame Web is scheduled for release on July 7, 2023.
