Adam Scott is being kept busy: The Severance actor intended to take a vacation before starting filming the second season of the show. However, he got booked for a role in Madame Web, an offer that seems he could not reject.
Scott is known for his previous roles in Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, and Big Little Lies. His performance in Severance nominated him for an Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Scott has credits in both comedy and drama genres, but he has never starred in a superhero film before, which is why the role in Madame Web was difficult to turn down, he stated to Collider:
“I actually didn’t think I was gonna work over the summer before we started Severance up again because we started in October, and I wasn’t planning on working at all before then. Then this came up, and I couldn’t resist.”
Madame Web is indeed an exciting project to be in, the actor will be joining a cast that includes Dakota Johnson in the title character, Sydney Sweeney. Celeste O’Connor, Emma Roberts, Tahar Rahim, and Sozia Mamet. The film is directed by S.J. Clarkson and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the writers behind Morbius.
The film’s story has not been revealed yet, but it is based on Marvel’s character Madame Web, who can see the future. The character was introduced to The Amazing Spiderman comics in 1980. She is a supporting character in the comics, but the film will have her as the protagonist. The story takes place in New York during the 2000s, and there are rumors about Scott’s role being Ben Parker. Scott could not reveal much of the project, but he said:
“it’s really cool. It’s a really fun world and a great role, but I can’t really say that much about it other than it’s cool and fun, which I’m sure you’re so sick of hearing from people”
Madame Web opens Feburary 24, 2024.
