It’s no secret that Adam Sandler has garnered a good relationship with Netflix. Over the years, the actor has maintain consistent popularity on the streaming platform with his films- both new and old- being extremely popular. Now Sandler is back with Netflix yet again, this time teaming up with Basketball All Star LeBron James for a new film titled Hustle.
Hustle stars Adam Sandler as a basketball scout who meets a talented player while abroad and decides to have him come to America, so they end up both being a part of the NBA. The film will be directed by We The Animals director Jeremiah Zagar, with Taylor Materne and Will Fetters writing the script. As mentioned the project will be produced by LeBron James alongside production companies Happy Madison, Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment. The film was initially picked up by Legendary Entertainment back in 2018 until Netflix received the rights to it and added it to the Sandler-Netflix deal.
Not much else is said about the project regarding a release date or filming date due to COVID-19. However, considering the director’s work, it can be assumed to be one of Sandler’s more dramatic films, which would make sense given the praise he received for Uncut Gems. Regardless, any potential project from Sandler after the success of Uncut Gems should be worth the attention, especially if Sandler wants to keep proving to audiences how seriously he should be taken as an actor.
