Netflix has re-upped its deal with Adam Sandler, with the Happy Madison Productions head signing a deal to produce an additional four films for the platform.
Sandler is no stranger to the platform, with his most recent release being last year’s comedy Murder Mystery. The pair have been in business since 2015’s The Ridiculous 6, his first Netflix film. Since, Happy Madison has released The Do-Over (2016), Sandy Wexler (2017), and The Week Of (2018), additionally producing two more films, Father of The Year (2018), and the upcoming The Wrong Missy. Sandler also released his first stand-up in 22 years, 100% Fresh, on the service. Considering Netflix has stated audiences have spent 2 billion hours watching these titles on their platform since 2015, this deal comes as a win for both parties.
Sandler currently has two of these projects already in development, family film Hubie Halloween, which features an ensemble cast including Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Maya Rudolph, Rob Schneider, Kenan Thompson, Steve Buscemi, Michael Chiklis, Tim Meadows, Noah Schnapp, Paris Berelc, China Anne McClain and Shaquille O’Neal, and an untitled animated feature film he’s set to direct, produce, and star in.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, expressed his excitement over the deal stating that “one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him,” and he “could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.”
