Netflix and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison have collaborated for a bat mitzvah comedy, titled You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah! The movie, which is also produced by Alloy Entertainment, is based on Fiona Rosenbloom’s YA novel of the same name. The novel follows Stacey Friedman who is preparing for her bat mitzvah; however, things don’t go as planned when Stacey sees her best friend Lydia Katz kissing with her crush Andy Goldfarb. This betrayal causes Stacey to say the iconic words: “you are so not invited to my bat mitzvah!”
Sandler’s family, including his wife Jackie and his teenage daughters Sunny and Sadie, will co-star in the movie. Idina Menzel, who played opposite Sandler in Uncut Gems, and SNL star Sarah Sherman are also cast members. Ido Mosseri, Samantha Lorraine, Dylan Hoffman, Dean Scott Vazquez, Miya Cech, Ivory Baker, Dylan Dash, Millie Thorpe and Zaara Kuttemperoor will appear in the comedy as well.
Sammi Cohen, known for the YA movie Crush, will be directing. Additionally You Are SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah! is produced by Sandler, Happy Madison executive Tim Herlihy, and Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton for Alloy Entertainment. Happy Madison executives Barry Bernardi, Judit Maull and Kevin Grady will be executive producers.
