Adam McKay’s latest film will star Jennifer Lawrence as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. The project, which reunites Lawrence and McKay following the yet-to-be-released Don’t Look Up, has allegedly been in production for some time.
McKay is set to write, direct, and produce the film with Lawrence portraying Holmes’ rise and fall, one that promised a better health care system and ended with her company’s collapse and trial for fraud.
Produced by Apple Studios, in collaboration with Legendary Pictures, the film is based on Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley from Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist John Carreyrou, who published the initial story.
Lawrence and her producing partner Justine Polsky recently finished production on A24’s untitled soldier film. She won an Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook and has been nominated for three additional Academy Awards for American Hustle, Joy, and Winter Bone.
Bad Blood will be produced by McKay and Kevin Messick through Hyperobject Industries. Polsky and Lawrence will produce through Excellent Cadaver and Will Ferrell through Gary Sanchez Productions.
Apple is yet to reveal more details about the film, including release date, cast members, etc.
