Actor Orson Bean Dies at Age 91

After Kirk Douglas passed away this past week, another actor from the Golden Age of Hollywood has passed away. This time it was Orson Bean, who was struck by a car and killed in Los Angeles at age 91.

Bean was known for many game shows and appearances on series like The Twilight Zone, Modern Family, Will & Grace, and Grace and Frankie. One of his most well known roles was as the voice of Bilbo Baggins in the original The Hobbit animated movie. He also appeared in films such as Being John Malkovich and most recently The Equalizer 2 in 2018.

He died from a car accident in Venice where he was clipped by one car and then hit by a second where the driver was unable to see him. Both drivers have cooperated with the police and have made it clear it was an accident. The incident also occurred directly outside Pacific Resident Theater where both he and his wife were company members.

Also a veteran, magician, activist, radio host, author, and theatre actor, he made a name for himself with over 70 years of work. He is survived by his long time wife Alley Mills and four children.
