Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known to Marvel fans as superhero Quicksilver, says his character will not be returning to the MCU anytime soon. According to an interview with ScreenRant, the actor confirmed that Marvel has not approached him about returning to the franchise following his last appearance in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Quicksilver, the twin brother of Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), first appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in a mid-credits scene. His arc only deepened in Age of Ultron, revealing his full name: Pietro Maximoff. The film found him switching over to the Avengers’ side to help defeat Ultron, which included Quicksilver’s untimely demise.
Marvel characters return from the dead all the time, so there’s no way to know for sure if a return for the character could be in the works. Taylor-Johnson affirmed it was “safe to say” there would be no “appearance of me coming out or Quicksilver appearing anytime soon.” Despite not being asked back, the actor still finds his talents occupied, starring in the upcoming A Million Little Pieces, set for release Dec. 6. Co-written by Taylor-Johnson himself and directed by his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, the biographical drama film is based on James Frey’s memoirs of a past drug and alcohol addiction.
