Emmy winning actor Aaron Paul is slated to join 50 Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan in the upcoming supernatural thriller, The 9th Life of Louis Drax. Fresh off his third Emmy win for his portrayal of meth dealer Jesse Pinkman on the hit AMC series Breaking Bad, Paul will join the cast of the Miramax film, scheduled to begin filming next month in Vancouver.
Paul will portray the father of the title character, whose near-fatal fall on his 9th birthday leads to a web of mystery and psychological intrigue in this thriller based on the bestselling novel by author Liz Jensen. Paul has recently been seen on the big screen in director Scott Waugh’s Need for Speed, and in the comedic drama, A Long Way Down alongside Pierce Brosnan and Toni Colette.
Dornan, best known for his television work in the UK and USA, recently wrapped shooting on 50 Shades of Grey, based on the first book of E.L. James’s 50 Shades Trilogy.
Aleandre Aja, the writer-director of the 2006 horror remake The Hills Have Eyes, is attatched to direct. Aja was nominated for the Palm d’Or in Cannes for his short film Over the Rainbow.
Max Minghella adapted Jensen’s book for his feature screenplay debut.
The film is slated for a 2015 release.
