On Tuesday, A24 released the first trailer for Eternity, a high-concept romantic comedy set in an afterlife that grants souls one week to choose who to spend eternity with. The film follows Elizabeth Olsen as Joan, a woman who must choose to spend eternity between her two previous loves: Lary (played by Miles Teller), who died recently, and Luke (played by Callum Turner), who died many years prior.
The film’s premise is explained simply in this line spoken by Olsen’s Joan in the trailer: “A lot has happened in a week. You died. I died. I’ve just been reunited with both of my dead husbands, and I have to pick where to spend eternity.”
The film also stars Academy Award-winning actress Da-Vine Joy Randolph, John Early, and Olga Merediz. The film is directed by David Freyne, with the script written by Freyne and co-written by Pat Cunnane. The original script, written by Cunnane, landed on the Black List, a prominent Hollywood showcase of promising unproduced screenplays, in 2022. The film is produced by Tim White and Trevor White.
Eternity will premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival in September. It will then be released theatrically in November. The trailer can be watched below:
