Marvel may be getting into a new facet of their ever-growing cinematic universe — kids! According to an exclusive from The Hashtag Show, a source reveals that Marvel is gearing up to develop a Power Pack movie in the coming years. This news is very nascent, though, as the source also has divulged that the project is in early early stages right now with Marvel essentially throwing the idea ball around for the film; however, Jonathan Schwartz, producer for the Guardians series, is said to be heading up the project.
The move makes a bit of sense, seeing how Marvel has made small steps toward a younger audience, turning out a teen comedy earlier this year with Spider-Man: Homecoming. The new film centered around the Power Pack will reportedly be in the vein of Spy Kids in that it will skew toward a younger audience, but still stay in line with the quality of the MCU. The time seems to be ripe, as it is also being reported that Fox is looking into a young future for the Fantastic Four.
For those unfamiliar, the Power Pack comics follow the young members of the Power family who contract super powers after a dying Kymellian gifts his own to them. The story is cosmic in nature and it is fitting that Schwartz will be the film’s lead developer, likely keeping the film in the realm of his Guardians.
