According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Valiant Entertainment is moving full steam ahead to bring their award-winning comic book Archer & Armstrong to the silver screen.
The original comic book was created by industry icons Jim Shooter, Barry Windsor-Smith, and Bob Layton. The franchise was met with extraordinary praise when it was first launched in 1992. Valiant then renewed the franchise in 2012, and again the property was received with rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Archer & Armstrong is an action/adventure story that features a unique partnership, and explores the nuances of that relationship. With one a pessimistic drunk and the other a world-traveling idealist, the inevitable head-butting between the two should brings plenty of humor, mishaps, and adventures. Of all the dynamic duos, budding bromances, and hero-sidekick teams out there, the heroes of Archer & Armstrong are perhaps the most underrated and overlooked.
Valiant Entertainment commissioned the script from writer BenDavid Grabinski, who also penned the upcoming How-To Guide for Saving the World. Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise), Jason Brown, and Dinesh Shamdasani will be producing the film. In addition to Archer & Armstrong, Valiant is bringing even more of its comic books to life, with Shadowman also being backed by the Sean Daniel Company, and with Bloodshot backed by Sony Pictures. With a crowded superhero landscape out there, it will be interesting to see if Valiant can hold its own amongst films like Batman v. Superman, X-Men: Apocalypse, and other mega franchises.
