There may still be hope for another Dungeons & Dragons adventure, but fans shouldn’t expect it anytime soon. According to  Screenrant, co-director Jonathan Goldstein confirmed that a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has already been written. The problem isn’t the story. It’s whether the movie will ever get made.

Speaking during San Diego Comic-Con, Goldstein revealed that he and his creative team were hired to write a follow-up after the first film was released. He said the script is finished and that they believe it’s a story fans would enjoy. However, he also admitted that the project faces major financial hurdles because fantasy films of this scale are expensive to produce.

Released in 2023, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves earned praise for its blend of action, comedy, and fantasy. The film starred Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Hugh Grant, and Daisy Head. Although it received strong reviews and developed a loyal fan base, its box office performance wasn’t enough to guarantee another installment.

For now, the sequel remains in limbo. Goldstein’s comments make it clear that the creative work has already been done, but the decision now rests on whether the financial side makes sense for the studio. Until then, fans can only hope the completed script eventually gets the chance to make its way to the big screen.
