‘892’ U.S. Rights Acquired by Bleecker Street, Starring John Boyega & The Late Michael K. Williams

After recently debuting at Sundance Film Festival, 892, a thriller starring John Boyega and the late Michael K. Williams, has been acquired by Bleecker Street. The film received a Special Jury Award at the festival for Ensemble Cast. Bleecker Street plans for a late-summer theatrical release of the film.

The film is directed by Abi Damaris Corbin. It is based on a true story of former U.S. Marine Brian Brown-Easley, played by Boyega (of Star Wars fame), who fails to receive his disability check from Veterans Affairs, leaving him dangerously close to poverty. In the act of desperation, he walks into a bank with a bomb threat, and from there, the film ensues to remind audiences of the importance of our veterans and why they can’t be left behind.

Corbin wrote the screenplay along with Kwame Kwei-Armah. The ensemble cast includes Nicole Beharie, Connie Britton, Olivia Washington, Selenis Leyva, London Covington, and Jeffrey Donovan.
