One of the projects coming out of the development deal between Duplass Brothers Productions and Netflix is the young indie romance 6 Years, starring Taissa Farmiga (The Bling Ring, TV’s American Horror Story) and Ben Rosenfield (HBO’s Boardwalk Empire).
The two young actors star as Mel and Dan, a couple who have been going strong for six years. Their relationship is put to the test when Dan is given a job opportunity and the two are subsequently tempted away from each other by outside forces.
Based on the trailer, the film looks to be an emotionally charged experience for both the characters and the viewer, highly reminiscent of the 2011 indie Like Crazy, which starred Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin.
The film also stars Lindsay Burdge (Frances Ha), Dana Wheeler-Nicholson (TV’s Friday Night Lights), and Joshua Leonard (If I Stay), and was written and directed by Hannah Fiddell as her second feature film after 2013’s A Teacher.
Netflix will be releasing 6 Years on August 18 via On-Demand and iTunes.
