2024 Summer Movie Season To Begin With ‘The Fall Guy,’ On Track For $35 Million Its First Weekend

The summer movie season is set to begin with a fall this weekend. The Fall Guy opens on the big screen and is on track to make a sizable splash.

The Fall Guy follows stuntman Colt Seavers, who becomes an unlikely hero when the leading man of the film he’s doing the stunts for suddenly disappears, leaving Seavers to track him down.

The film is currently on track to make anywhere between $30 to $35 million in its first weekend. Hollywood Reporter states that the total is enough for the film to win the gold during the weekend, but will still have a long way to go to earn its $130 million budget.

Hollywood Reporter also noted that The Fall Guy being the film to kick off the summer movie season is unorthodox compared to years prior.  2023, for example, saw the summer season open with Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3, similar to how most seasons kick off with a franchise film.

The general estimates for this year’s summer gross looks roughly $3.2 billion. The summer movie stretch usually lasts from the beginning of May to Labor Day in September.

While still eyeing a sizable profit, overall trackings for this year are down by a reported amount of roughly 20% from where they were last year.

The Fall Guy hits theaters on May 3rd.
