If you feel you’ve run out of content to watch on Netflix during lockdown, don’t worry. Netflix is bringing new content to the platform in June so you don’t have to rewatch Tiger King for the fourth time. Here’s what’s coming to Netflix in the month of June:
- Classic crime thriller The Silence of the Lambs, starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins in the iconic roles of FBI Agent Clarice Starling and cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter.
- E.T The Extra-Terrestrial, a family film from the ’80s about a brother and sister who take in a wayward alien and protect him from the government.
- West Side Story, a musical from the golden age of Hollywood; a retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet set in 1950’s New York. Young lovers Tony and Maria, who hail from rival gangs, fight to be together despite the war that separates them.
- V for Vendetta, made by the Wachowski sisters, this movie is set in a dystopian London, as a girl named Evie (played by Natalie Portman) finds herself involved with a mysterious urban terrorist named V (Hugo Weaving), who plots to dismantle the fascist government.
- The Disaster Artist, an award winning biographical comedy film about the making of what is either the worst or greatest movie ever made, The Room. Directed by and starring James Franco as the modern day Orson Welles, Tommy Wiseau.
- The Help, a film adaptation of a 2005 novel by Kathryn Stockett, this film, set in Jackson, Mississippi, in the 1960s, follows the lives of several women – two black maids and a white aspiring writer – during the Civil Rights Movement. Starring Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, and Emma Stone.
- Clueless for chick-flick lovers – a retelling of Jane Austen’s Emma set in the ’90s about a well-to-do high school socialite named Cher.
- Twister, starring Bill Paxton and Bonnie Hunt; this classic “disaster movie” follows a group of rag tag storm chasers who track tornados in Oklahoma.
- Don Bluth’s All Dogs Go To Heaven, a story about a morally ambiguous dog named Charlie B. Barkin (voiced by Burt Reynolds) cheating death and adopting a young girl who can talk to animals.
- Da 5 Bloods, highly anticipated new film by Spike Lee, illustrating the journey of 4 African American Vietnam veterans as they return to Vietnam in search of the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure.
All of these films and more will be available to watch during the month of June on Netflix.
