Enola Holmes’ Sam Claflin and Fortitude’s Veronica Echegui are set to star in the upcoming Sky Original romantic comedy, Book of Love. The film, which is being made in association with BuzzFeed Studios, is planning to go into production this March. Sky is handling European Markets, with international sales being handled by XYZ Films.
Book of Love follows Claflin as an uptight writer whose novel appears to fail, but for some reason is a surprise hit in Mexico. When he’s invited there to promote it, he finds that his Spanish translator Maria, played by Echegui, has rewritten his book into an erotic novel. When he’s forced by his publisher to conduct a book tour across the country with Maria, the two experience a chemistry together that causes sparks to fly.
Analeine Cal Y Mayor is directing the film, which is written by the BAFTA and Emmy-Award winning Veep writer David Quantick. Book of Love is being produced by Michael Knowles from North of Watford Films, Naysun Alae-Carew from Blazing Griffin, Allan Niblo from Vertigo Films, Nick Spicer and Maxime Cottray from XYZ and Richard Alan Reid from Buzzfeed Studios.
So far, not many details about the film have been released aside from the general plot and two attached stars. There’s currently no planned release date.
