John Travolta and Salma Hayek will star together in an adaptation of the 2006 memoir A Three Dog Life. The duo last appeared on screen together in 2012’s Savages; however, A Three Dog Life promises to be a much more emotional and heartfelt endeavor than Oliver Stone’s violent (and poorly received) narcotics drama.
The memoir, written by Abigail Thomas, tells the story of her husband Rich’s car accident that left him with no memory, as well as her journey to rebuild her life and preserve her marriage in the wake of the tragedy. With Rich in a mental institution, Abigail moves from the city to a small country town to be closer to him. With her new family of three dogs she reinvents her life and navigates her relationship with her husband who has become very different than the man she once knew.
Travolta and Hayek will play Rich and Abigail respectively, while Nick Guthe (Mini’s First Time) will perform triple duty; directing from his adapted script as well as producing the film. J. Todd Harris (The Kids Are All Right) and Clark Peterson (Monster) will also produce.
The Solution Entertainment is currently shopping for foreign buyers for A Three Dog Life at the European Film Market.
