Annapurna Pictures has just landed the rights to Nightbitch, an upcoming novel from author Rachel Yoder. The studio recently won the rights for the film adaptation of the novel at an auction, as reported first by Deadline.
Author Rachel Yoder will help adapt the novel for the big screen. Yoder will also serve as an executive producer alongside Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, and Sammy Scher for the upcoming film.
The novel, which will be released in December of 2021, follows the ups and downs of motherhood and all of the not so pretty stuff that comes with it. It’s a dark, yet humorous take of the world of mothers. The novel centers around an unnamed woman who is forced to become a stay-at-home mom following her son’s birth. As a former artist, the woman feels somewhat lost in her new role. As she begins to spend more and more time at home, she becomes increasingly concerned that she is turning into a dog.
The film will star Academy-Award nominee Amy Adams.
While the novel has not been released yet, the book and corresponding adaption are already garnering buzz. There is no word yet when production will start on the film or when the film will be released.
