In regards to television stations creating incredibly memorable characters for kids, PBS Kids has a huge line up of lovable characters that help educate today’s youth over the years. One of those characters is a little jack russell terrier who loves books known as Wishbone. The character has been in the collective minds of kids nostalgic for PBS Kids show for quite some time and now, Wishbone will be receiving his first feature film from Universal Pictures.

The original series focused on Wishbone, a little dog teaching children about many iconic and famous literary classics from Frankenstein to Robin Hood. The show lasted from 1996 to 2001 and it’s still remember to this day for helping introduce children to so many classic stories.  The upcoming movie adaptation will be produced by Universal Studios and Mattel. Also producing the upcoming project is Green Book director Peter Farrelly, who will be producing the upcoming film with Robbie Brenner, Kevin McKeon and Lexi Barta also overseeing the upcoming project. The film’s script will be penned by Roy Parker, who was featured on the 2019 blacklist.

Producer of the film Robbie Brenner expressed a ton of excitement when discussing the upcoming project with Peter Farrelly stating that it’ll be given a new direction with a modern re-imagination of the series as a whole. Brenner expanded this by saying, “Our deep library of iconic franchises continues to offer cinematic storytelling opportunities”.  Soon enough audiences everywhere will discover a brand new story with this lovable terrier and be reminded to why Wishbone is considered such a good boy when it comes to famous fictional dogs.
