Fresh off of the success of their new movie Extraction, Netflix is returning to the thriller genre with a different star: Blake Lively.
Lively, best known for her roles in The Shallows and A Simple Favor and wife of Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, has signed onto the upcoming movie Dark Days at the Magna Carta as both an actress and producer. Dark Days will follow Lively as a woman who goes to extreme lengths to save her family during a catastrophic event in a “character-driven narrative,” per Deadline. It will be penned by fast rising talent Michael Paisley, who worked as a writer and production assistant on Netflix’s hit series The Witcher. Paisley has also signed on to write a horror film, currently titled Dollhouse, for STXfilms.
Lively has proven herself to be an elite talent in the industry for her aforementioned work on The Shallows and A Simple Favor, despite her most recent action-thriller, The Rhythm Section, being a massive flop. Netflix appears to have no concerns with this, as Dark Days at the Magna Carta is reportedly being planned out into a trilogy if the first movie proves to be successful.
