Adventure awaits, as the action-packed new trailer for Jungle Cruise has officially been released by Walt Disney Studios. The movie is inspired by the famous Disneyland Resort theme park ride and will star Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. The cast also includes Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti, with Jaume Collet-Serra directing the film.
Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition that centers around a charismatic riverboat captain named Frank (Johnson) and a fellow scientist named Lily (Blunt) and her brother McGregor (Whitehall). The explorers are on a research mission to find the Tree of Life but find themselves running into survival obstacles, dangerous wild animals, and a competing German expedition.
Set during the early twentieth century, the trailer begins with Lily explaining to Frank that she is in the Amazon jungle to find a “tree that heals all” that “could change the world,” but must find it before the tree falls into the wrong hands, awakening a great evil force. Frank remains skeptical, claiming that he has spent years looking for the tree and hasn’t been able to find it. He joins the team when Lily reveals that she has a special key that would help the group find the Tree of Life.
A montage ensues, showing Frank, Lily and McGregor on their ambitious journey, involving a number of dangerous animals and missile attacks at their boats from the competing expedition. Later, Frank comes to Lily’s rescue as they swing on a vine to another side of the jungle. When Frank is unable to latch his foot on a roof, the two go swinging back to the starting place, with Lily brushing it off with “Just leave me alone. That was a disaster.”
Jungle Cruise will hit theaters in the U.S. on July 24, 2020. Watch the trailer below:
