Rachel Brosnahan, star of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and House of Cards, is making a push towards the silver screen. The rising actress will be accompanying In The Heights‘ star Anthony Ramos for the upcoming Amblin sci-fi comedy film Distant, according to Deadline.
Will Speck and Josh Gordon, best known for their work on Blades of Glory and Office Christmas Party, will be directing the Spenser Cohen-scribed screenplay with production eyed to commence next month. Distant centers on a lone asteroid miner who, following an emergency landing on an unknown planet, is forced to survive and adapt to the environment this alien world presents. Along the way, the miner traverses the arid landscape only to stumble upon a straggling space voyager who is stuck inside her space pod.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Midnight Special, Fred Berger of La La Land, and Anna Halberg of Extinction will all be tasked with producing the film for Amblin. On top of this, Speck and Gordon will also serve as the film’s executive producers, next to Jonathan Rothbart and Matt Hirsch. Kevin Vafi will participate as producer while Amblin’s Co-President of Production, Jeb Brody, will supervise alongside John Buderwitz, who will serve as creative executive.
As of right now, Ramos and Brosnahan are the only actors cast for the film.
