“True story” films are always expected around the holiday season to qualify for the Academy Awards. One particular film that has been getting some attention is James Mangold’s (Logan) new film Ford v. Ferrari, featuring Oscar winners Christian Bale and Matt Damon. A new trailer was just released for the upcoming biopic on the lives of Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles.
The film focuses on Shelby and Miles teaming up to be a part of 24 Hours of Le Mans race, which took place in France of 1966. Their goal for this particular race was to beat the consecutive winner for nearly 5 years, Scuderia Ferrari. To accomplish this task, the duo enters Le Mans, with Carroll Shelby designing a new vehicle for the company Ford while Ken Miles takes the wheel. They eventually create the Ford GT40 to beat out Ferrari’s winning streak at the iconic French annual event.
Mangold’s newest film has already gotten some buzz, being fairly well received at the Telluride and Toronto International Film Festivals. From what the trailer showcase, Ford v. Ferrari seems incredibly engaging, making the dynamic between Damon and Bale enjoyable to watch. The trailer also should get some credit by making the conflict between Ford and Ferrari’s companies exciting, with a lot of energy and fast pace editing. For a film about race cars, the film’s liveliness is a key factor to making it incredibly engrossing, something and Mangold has clearly accomplished. Audiences will certainly witness the excitement of this true story once Oscar Season officially starts.
Ford v. Ferrari is set for release on November 15th 2019. Watch the Full Trailer Below:
