Mel Gibson and Tye Sheridan are in the final leg of negotiations to star in the anticipated Blacklist thriller, Black Files. The Blacklist film was written by Ryan King and is set to be directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire (A Prayer Before Dawn). This news was originally reported by Deadline.
Based on the novel by Shannon Burke, Black Files follows the story of Ollie Cross (Sheridan), a young paramedic in his first year on the job. Cross is partnered with Rutkovsky (Gibson), a more experienced and cynical medic. In their time together, Rutkovsky exposes Cross to the homelessness, poverty, and crime that dominates life in the New York inner-city. The film sees Cross confront the city’s poverty and begin to question his life and perceptions. Cross’ existential crisis penetrates through questions as fundamental as the paramedic’s understanding of life and death – right and wrong.
Sauvaire’s involvement in Black Files all but guarantees the film will construct intense existential thrills for audiences. Keep your eyes peeled for Mad River Pictures to announce when the Black Files will begin production.
