As it comes for many successful films coming to blu-ray, studios do their best to provide not only a great at-home experience of watching the film, but provide plenty of extras to get fans more informed of the movie they have in their collection. 20th Century Fox is doing that again with the 2018 Freddie Mercury Biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, with a blu-ray scheduled to be release on February 12. The main special feature included in this Blu-ray set is a little thing called the Live-Aid Musical Performance
The Live-Aid Musical Performance in this feature is a full length version of the recreated concert at the end of the film. It will essentially be like watching an actual recording of the real concert except with the actors and performances seen in the movie. It’ll include all the songs in the film as well as We Will Rock You and A Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
The blu-ray will also include a few behind the scenes features including one showcasing the performance of Rami Malek as Freddie, another one making the sound and look of Queen authentic in the film, and finally, one on recreating Live-Aid. The downside is that the Blu-ray will offer no deleted scenes as a bonus to the Blu-ray disc. This disappoints fans for various reasons, mainly that the cast and crew stated in various interviews that there were plenty of scenes mentioned that were cut that showcased Freddie’s life including scenes of them in Japan, how they created the emblem for the Band and how Freddie came up with the song Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It certainly does feel rather disappointing, when fans felt they could of had the opportunity to see these moments once on home media but unfortunately, it does not look like to be the case. Regardless, the Live Aid recreation set could be fulfilling enough for fans of Queen that the Blu-ray purchase could be worth it.
