American Horror Story mainstay Evan Peters has signed on to join the cast of I Am Woman, the film based on the life of ’70s singer and feminist icon Helen Reddy. Deadline first reported the news.
Peters will be portraying Jeff Wald, Reddy’s husband and manager who represented a lot of huge names in the game Donna Summer, George Carlin, and Syvlester Stallone, and also convinced Capitol Records to record an album with Reddy rooted around her anthem I Am Woman.
The couple met after she moved from Australia to the United States to further her music career. They had a contentious relationship that ended in a divorce and custody battle for their children.
The film is being directed by Unjoo Moon based on a script by Emma Jensen. It also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Kelly Macdonald. It is currently in production in Australia.
Peters recently appeared in the indie film American Animals and was featured in Ryan Murphy’s series Pose and American Horror Story: Apocalypse all this year. He will next be seen in Dark Phoenix, reprising his role as Quicksilver.
