You lose it here, you’re in a world of hurt. Shane Black‘s The Predator is heading back to the jungle for more reshoots. As reported by Screen Rant, the production crew is trekking back to the primitive jungles of Vancouver, Canada after previously completing extensive reshoots in March. Black, known for directing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3, and writing classic action films such as Lethal Weapon, Last Action Hero, The Last Boy Scout, and The Long Kiss Goodnight, stated that prior reshoots reworked the finale to make it more scary. They also removed an action scene, and axed several hybrid creatures, who either didn’t have time to bleed, or were bled real quiet.
The new reshoots will last for two days. Speculation abounds that they are adding a scene to set up a sequel, as producers are hoping to turn this into a successful trilogy. They tried to lure Arnold Schwarzenegger in for a cameo, but he declined; perhaps if given a meatier role he’ll return for a sequel. Crowd response to the latest trailer has been pretty positive, and Black has a solid track record in the action genre, so hopefully these reshoots will lead to a better end product and a successful trilogy-starter.
The Predator stars Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Edward James Olmos, and Jake Busey.
Stick around and check out the latest trailer below. Assuming these reshoots go well, the film digs into theaters like an Alabama tick on September 14.
