Ladies and gentlemen, please keep your arms and hands inside the boat at all times…
Recently, British actress Emily Blunt has starred in A Quiet Place (with real-life husband John Krasinski), The Girl on the Train, and is finishing up Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns (playing opposite Hamilton creator Lin Manuel-Miranda). Now, the in-demand actress has joined Dwayne Johnson (San Andreas) in Jungle Cruise, the Hollywood Reporter relays. Much like the famous Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (and the less well-known Eddie Murphy-starring 2003 Haunted Mansion film), the movie will gather its source material from a Disney ride.
Well-established in the fields of suspense, horror, and big thrills, Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) will direct. Johnson will be further involved in the film as a producer, along with Dany Garcia, co-CEOs of their company. As owners of Seven Bucks Productions, they will use the company to produce.
Though there is no specified release date for the film, production will begin in only a few months, starting as spring begins.
