If you’re looking for a tear-jerking love story then you’ve come to the right place. The trailer alone may have you reaching for the tissues and weeping like James McAvoy during a particularly distressing acting scene.
Wim Wenders‘ Submergence stars McAvoy and Alicia Vikander, and it gathers its source material from a novel by J. M. Ledgard.
The movie follows James More (McAvoy) as he is held captive by jihadist fighters on the eastern coast of Africa. At the same time, thousands of miles away in the Greenland Sea, Danielle Flinders (Vikander) prepares to dive in a sub to the ocean floor. In their confines they are drawn back to the Christmas of the previous year, where a chance encounter on a beach in France led to an intense and enduring romance.
