Hell or High Water writer-director Taylor Sheridan returns to the screen in full force with his latest Wind River. The film just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to generally outstanding reviews and reportedly showcases the filmmaker’s special knack for capturing an untold America.
Wind River follows the murder of a teenage girl on a remote Native American Reservation, where the lines of law and order have been blurred. Rookie FBI agent Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) teams up with local hunter/tracker Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner) to solve the girl’s mysterious murder by any means necessary. The film also features performances by Jon Bernthal (Fury), Gil Birmingham (Twilight), Julia Jones (The Ridiculous Six), Kelsey Asbille (TV’s Teen Wolf), James Jordan (TV’s Justified), Ian Bohen (TV’s Teen Wolf), and Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves).
The Weinstein Company will be releasing the film this summer. No official release date has been set. Check out the trailer below, which highlights a landscape and tone that is as beautiful as it is chilling.
