“You must go before the fighting begins.” The chilling first teaser for War of the Planet of the Apes has arrived. While the movie – which just hosted a panel at New York Comic Con – revealed not an ounce of footage for the upcoming blockbuster, the first glimpse is unnerving and powerful nonetheless. The brief tease showcases the menacing image of Caesar (again portrayed via motion-capture king Andy Serkis) coming together from the snowflakes flurrying about.
The official synopsis was recently revealed:
Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins this own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
This third entry in the popular reboot of the beloved saga comes to screen from director Matt Reeves (who made Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the franchise’s most recent outing) and features an ensemble cast that includes Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games), Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club), Judy Greer (Grandma) and Gabriel Chavarria (Lowriders). War of the Planet of the Apes hits screens on July 14, 2017.
