Biblical epics seem to be in style as of late, and Kevin Reynolds (The Count of Monte Cristo) is looking very fashionable. Ridley Scott is directing Exodus and Darren Aronofsky is filming Noah, but Reynolds will be making a film about the most important Biblical figure. Reynolds is set to direct Resurrection, which takes place during the 40 days following Jesus’s crucifixion.
The story will be a mystery which focuses on a Roman centurion who is commissioned by Pontius Pilate to investigate the disappearance of Jesus’s body. Although he initially doubts the validity of the supernatural rumors, as he gathers evidence and interviews eyewitnesses the truth gradually becomes clear.
The film will be produced by LD Entertainment and will have a Gladiator vibe according to CEO Mickey Liddell.
Resurrection is currently scheduled for an Easter 2015 release.
